Dorado – Mahi Mahi

One of the most prolific fish species found in Costa Rica; it is also one of the most fun to catch and very tasty to eat as well! We often will catch them by “accident” while targeting larger game fish such as Marlin or Sailfish.

Whether small or large, Dorado put up an excellent fight and a thrilling aerial show when caught. However, since they reach a max weight of around 80 lbs or so, fishing for Dorado is good fun for the whole family – even kids can have a great time landing one!

Mackerel (Spanish Mackerel)

Are you looking to get more than just a good photo-op and some good memories out of your Costa Rica fishing trip? Are you after a good meal? Would you like to enjoy sushi or sashimi quality meat? Then you will be super pumped when we get you into some Spanish Mackerel/Pacific Sierra Mackerel. While they are a beautiful fish and do take a nice picture, it’s their rosy pink meat that makes this catch a unique and delicious treat!

Marlin

Have you been dreaming of landing a monster Marlin? One you can hang above the mantle in your man cave? Well, look no further; Costa Rica is the place to make that dream a reality. Our fishing charters constantly hook into trophy Marlins. Are you ready?

Roosterfish

One of the most unique fish in the ocean, the roosterfish has quickly become a sought after target of many sporting anglers around the world. Here in Costa Rica, they are so plentiful that we often catch them by “accident” when targeting other big game fish, like billfish for example. Whether you have been hankering to hang a beautiful Rooster on your wall, or you hook into one by accident – you are gonna love the fight and the great photo-op!

Sailfish

Here in Costa Rica, there are Sailfish galore. While it is best to book a Sailfish package during their peak season, you can always count on good odds of hooking into one while on holiday here. Our crew has the experience and local knowledge of the water to make sure you don’t leave disappointed.

Snapper

Whether smoked, filleted or fried up whole, Snapper is one of the best eating fish around. Sure, it is easy to find as the “catch-of-the-day” in many a Costa Rican restaurant, but how much sweeter will it taste when it comes off your own hook? The great thing about our Snapper fishing tours is that they don’t have to take up your whole day. Even if you only have a few hours to spend on the water, our local guides can get you hooked up in a snap! (pardon the pun)

Snook

Another delicious white meat fish that is very plentiful in Costa Rica is Snook. Their hunting grounds and feeding patterns are well-known by our local guides. So, if you are into fresh fish tacos or perhaps a nice ceviche…then book an inshore Snook fishing adventure today!

Tarpon

Sport fishing for Tarpon in Costa Rica dates back to the 1950’s when famous American actors John Wayne and Lee marvin frequented the rivers and estuaries where our monster Tarpon can be found. You will be happy to know that the Tarpon still are plentiful even in the more popular spots. And, we also have some new, less frequently fished areas we can show you where huge Tarpon can be caught.

Tuna

If you are looking for a fight that might end in food for your whole party…then you might want to allow us to point you in the direction of some Yellowfin Tuna. It is possible to land a Skipjack or Bigeye Tuna as well (also delicious), but the most likely scenario if you come on one of our Tuna fishing tours is that you and your party will be dining on fresh Ahi by the end of the day!

Wahoo

We can’t say enough good things about the Wahoo fishing in Costa Rica. These fish can’t be caught just any ol’ place. If you have never had the chance to experience their speed, well you are in for blast and a half. We could say the same about their tender white meat – it’s a blast to eat!

It is indeed quite tasty; so much so, that it is often enjoyed in sushi or sashimi style by our satisfied customers. Why not plan on putting some on your plate today?
